Our client, ABBVIE is looking for its Head of Site for its Belgian medical devices BU plant Odyssea Pharma

Odyssea Pharma is an affiliate company of ABBVIE, a global pharmaceutical group focused on developing, manufacturing and commercializing branded products including bio-pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biologic, surgical and regenerative medicine products in various therapeutic areas.

His/her main responsibility will be to provide leadership, direction and strategy for all aspects of the BU: Finance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Planning/Purchasing, Quality, HSE, Compliance, HR and Capex Investments.

The objective is to maximize the organizational effectiveness and performances in terms of customer service, quality of products & services, regulatory compliance, and financial performances.

The Head of Site will directly report to the Global VP Medical Technologies.

The BU plant currently employs >50 FTE’s and operates in one shift.

Several months are foreseen to familiarize with the site manufacturing operations and ensure a smooth succession of the current Head of site.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Set all operational and financial goals, manage the Belgian site P&L
    • Track and trend operational and financial performance levels.
    • Lead and develop the Belgian team (> 50 FTE’s) to ensure achievement of mid- and long-term goals (volumes, quality, cost, customer satisfaction).
    • Establish the site business strategy and its long-term plans; adjust plans to market and internal changes.
    • Support all managers in establishing efficient communication with their US peers; manage the employee relations climate.
    • Ensure that all activities and processes performed on the site are in compliance with national laws, FDA/EMA regulations, GMP’s, environmental directives, etc.
    • Direct the EHS and related Group strategy and programs to ensure safety and wellness of all site personnel, guests and contractors.
    • Report the Belgian site performances at Group corporate level and propose long term growth and profitability strategies (partnerships, external growth, NPI,…).
    • Manage the transition of the site and its organization into a more data driven/BI driven operation, generalizing KPI’s, scorecards and Perfect Index based performance management.
    • Coach the Leadership Team, especially regarding the way each Team leader communicate its expectations to its employees (responsibilities, goals, behaviours, respect of EED&I and AbbVie Way)

    Required Profile

    • Master degree in Sciences, Engineering or Business Management.
    • Min. 10 years of experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, in operational and management roles.
    • Business acumen coupled with broad functional leadership experience
    • Accustomed to interface and report to a US/Irish corporate organization.
    • Ability to lead and to empower local teams, in a context of challenging corporate integration.
    • Ability to support the site in projects and products development.
    • Flexible for travelling (min. 4 times/year in US), organized and pro-active.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and in French.
