Our client is amongst the world leaders in developing and manufacturing components/materials designed for heavy duty and high temperature industrial equipment.

He is looking for an experienced Senior Research Engineer specialized in thermomechanical modelling and testing, to join his global R&D Center of Excellence in Belgium.

He/she will be in charge of planning, leading and carrying out experimental programs (2-3 global research projects per year) that will enable a better understanding of components/materials behavior under extreme thermomechanical conditions. This understanding will be instrumental in developing new testing protocols and in improving the resistance to failure and extending industrial applications of existing and new products.

An open-ended (ODC/CDI) employment contract is proposed together with an attractive compensation package (including company car) and exciting career perspectives.

    Main activities include

    • Supervise lab/research technicians assigned to each project
    • Design and lead experiments to develop fundamental understanding of thermomechanical behavior of products
    • Improve numerical methodology and constitutive equations to represent thermomechanical behavior
    • Design, develop and validate new test methods; formalize test methods and analysis standards.
    • Design and procure new testing equipment.
    • Participate in R&D consortiums and stimulate internal R&D ideas sharing

    Required Profile 

    • PhD degree in Mechanical Sciences & Engineering
    • Hands on experience in thermomechanical modelling, testing and behavior law/equations analysis
    • Ability to manage experimental programs, solve problems and develop new solutions
    • Significant knowledge of Finite Elements methods
    • Proficient in Abaqus
    • Strong understanding of thermodynamics and materials science
    • Fluent English
